Hello, I have a question about private fax did's. A end user has 2 DIDs, 1 for voice and 1 for fax. Is there a way I can route both DIDs to the same mailbox without having to use 2 mailbox licenses? Currently the fax DID routes to phDN which is rerouted to a fax only mailbox which then gives the message to the users voice mailbox.
(Yes, I'm new to MitelY

Its very easy on the 6510 and Nortel Callpilot.
I dont see why it should be so hard on the NuPoint without extra licenses.

Thanks, Tech Support comfirmed that this morning. Pretty much need to double up on mailbox licenses in this case. Wish our Regional sales rep would have caught it before hand. This was our first 3300/NuPoint deployment so it was a learning experience for us... now we know.
Thanks for quick response.

This can be done in the Nupoint, what you will need to do is give the users who want to receive a fax the following feature bites:
190 - receive fax messages 203 - Walkaway fax for callers
If the Nupoint hears a fax tone it will then receive the fax, but if not then it customer will be able to leave a message.

I think that would mean you could only have one DID number though. No seperate number for phone and fax. Ralph www.usedavayaphones.com

Ralph, you are correct, in that case you could create a rotational mailbox for one of the DID's to point into the main mailbox, which has these two options enabled. but would it would still use a license.
I would therefore create a nametag hunt group with the DN of the mailbox with these fax settings on but starting with *, then point this into the voicemail. I will direct the caller into one voicemail box with fax a message facilities.

Thanks for all the great ideas, but found a solution and it works!
In the primary (voice) mailbox, click advance, there are options for alternate mailbox. Well, this is where you enter the PhDN that the fax DID is pointed to. It doesn't prompt for the caller to start the fax but once it detects the leading fax tones it's good to go.
Got this from a Mitel tech that helped us out on our 2nd 3300 install.
Later!

It doesn't prompt for the caller to start the fax but once it detects the leading fax tones it's good to go. This is what I am testing. I think this works as well for me, but I do not get that many faxes. I know on the version we have we could only recieve tiffs, has that changed. That is one of the reasons I have not rolled it out. Let me know what drawbacks you see using the nupoint for fax. For me the big one is TIFF only. Our dealer gave us a temp fax server that sends out PDF and I am sure my users will scream if I change it to TIFFs. How are you doing outbound faxing? Carlos
